Cracking start to Chingford League campaign

Loughton AC members turned out in force for the opening race of the Chingford League season at Eastbrookend Country Park in Dagenham on Saturday 1 October.

The Under 13s and Under 11s got the day off to a strong start running with great enthusiasm around their gently undulating 2km course.

The Under 15s and Under 17s set off with the adults. Expecting to compete over 5km, they showed great grit and determination to run an extra 2km when confusion over the new course directed them round two laps of Central Park. Tuesday night training on the roads and hills of Loughton paid dividends as LAC athletes placed first and second in the Under 15 girls category, first and third in the Under 15 boys, and second in the Under 17 boys.

The LAC women veterans' (Over 40) team were the stars of the adult race, ending the day at the head of the women's vets league table. The women's B team (2nd) and men veteran's team (3rd) also scored strongly.

The next Chingford League Race is a night race at Lee Valley Velopark on Wednesday 12 October 2022.
